Hi everyone, here are our suggested daily recommended read in print and digital formats.

Our Digital Catalog suggested title for today is a fantasy e-book by Jonathan Auxier — the description follows the photo!

Night Gardener

The Night Gardener by Jonathan Auxier:

This much-anticipated follow-up to Jonathan Auxier’s exceptional debut, Peter Nimble and His Fantastic Eyes, is a Victorian ghost story with shades of Washington Irving and Henry James. More than just a spooky tale, it’s also a moral fable about human greed and the power of storytelling. The Night Gardener follows two abandoned Irish siblings who travel to work as servants at a creepy, crumbling English manor house. But the house and its family are not quite what they seem. Soon the children are confronted by a mysterious spectre and an ancient curse that threatens their very lives. With Auxier’s exquisite command of language, The Night Gardener is a mesmerizing read and a classic in the making.

Print Book Suggested Read:

In my work as the Acquisitions Librarian I read many, many reviews. However, I don’t, as you can imagine, have enough time to read all the great books that I read reviews about – so many books, so little time!

So I haven’t ready every book I post a description or review on our list of Daily Suggested Reads – however, I have read this one! And if you like Dystopian fiction – you’ll like this futuristic tale!

And NPR gave this title a nod too – here’s the link to the NPR article that features that review; it is titled For The ‘Oscars Of Romance,’ Representation Matters

And here the info on the book:

Tomorrow

Forget Tomorrow by Pintip Dunn:

Imagine a world where your destiny has already been decided…by your future self.

It’s Callie’s seventeenth birthday and, like everyone else, she’s eagerly awaiting her vision — a memory sent back in time to sculpt each citizen into the person they’re meant to be. A world-class swimmer. A renowned scientist.

Or in Callie’s case, a criminal.

In her vision, she sees herself murdering her gifted younger sister. Before she can process what it means, Callie is arrested and placed in prison. The only person who can help is her childhood crush, Logan, a boy she hasn’t spoken to in five years.

Logan breaks her free, but can she trust him? He’s almost the same boy she remembers, but now he’s a whole lot hotter. And he’s got his own past to deal with. Callie’s falling for him, fast, but she soon learns he has secrets of his own. Secrets that mean they can never be together.

Now, Callie’s on the run not only from the government, but also from her fate. If she wants any hope of a future with Logan, she must find a way to protect her sister from the biggest threat of all — herself.
